                Ghost Hunters
                On Halloween night,
                under a rare full moon,
                would you like to
                see things that really
                go "bump" in the night?

Some Utah investigators have something to show us from inside Ogden's old Egyptian Theatre.
Ed Yeates tells us a REAL ghost story.

What better place to look for ghostly images than inside this classic old building in downtown Ogden.

ED YEATES, SCIENCE SPECIALIST: "THE EGYPTIAN THEATRE HERE GOES BACK A LONG WAY - 1924. ONE YEAR EARLIER, 1923, THE OLD ARLINGTON HOTEL ON THIS SAME SITE BURNED TO THE GROUND."

That's the kind of history Utah Paranormal Exploration and Research wants as a backdrop when it investigates "hauntings." Merry Barrentine, Tracey Dunn, Zane Judkins, Dr. Richard Atkinson were here - recording "bumps" in the dark with a variety of infrared cameras.

RICHARD ATIKNSON, WEBER STATE UNIVERSITY:
"GHOSTBUSTERS IS KIND OF A POLITICALLY INCORRECT TERM FOR GHOST INVESTIGATORS. IN FACT, I DON'T EVEN PREFER THE TERM GHOST INVESTIGATOR. I WOULD RATHER TALK ABOUT PARANORMAL INVESTIGATIONS."

How about these spheres investigators call "orbs."

RICHARD ATKINSON:
"WE DON'T KNOW FOR SURE WHAT ORBS ARE. BUT ON THE VIDEO CAMERAS AND STILL PHOTOGRAPHY THAT WE TAKE - THEY APPEAR TO BE ELECTROMAGNETIC BALLS OR SPHERES OF LIGHT."

Are they energy from another form of consciousness - a ghost - or natural anomalies of light simply sensitive to a digital camera?

How about a photograph by Merry Barrentine. Is it an apparition? What about recorded sounds - perhaps voices - from Ogden's Union Station.

ATKINSON:
"SEVERAL VOICES THAT ALL SEEM TO SAY AT ONE POINT IN TIME - IN UNISON - WHERE THEY SAY WE WERE ONCE FLESH."

Of course this is one of those fringe areas most scientists scoff at. In fact, most universities no longer recognize parapsychology as a discipline for study. This group, though, continues doing its thing - believing there is more that goes on in the dark than the living eye can see.
